5. Hermione Granger in 'Harry Potter' series Geek-tress: Emma Watson Geekery Focus: Magic, Hogwarts, proving she's no regular Muggle Geek Quote: "I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed -- or worse, expelled." Geek-Down: A Muggle-born Gryffindor student, Hermione is determined to prove she's as good or better than any student born from magical parents. Author JK Rowling calls her a "borderline genius," and throughout the series, Hermione proves herself to be the best student in Harry Potter's year -- repeatedly being the first to master each new spell or charm. Without her guidance, Harry often wouldn't know what to do with all his talent. [Source]
Eeek just 100 days until Harry Potter and and the Deathly Hallows! Emma Watson launches official countdown to next Harry Potter movie
HARRY Potter obsessives get your diaries out now... Because the official countdown to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has officially begun *SCREAM*.
And there are exactly 100 days to go until the first part of the last installment hits the big screen on November 19.
Here to remind us of that fact is the lovely Emma Watson - sporting her brand new and very un-Hermione pixie crop.
The gorgeous Brit donned a lace jumpsuit in London today to front a campaign to give away a host of prizes connected with the film (see http://www.facebook.com/HarryPotterUK for more details).
And although we're totally gutted that the Harry Potter movies are coming to an end, we're ridiculously excited about what's still in store having seen the spine-tingling trailer.
Images of Harry Potter star Emma Watson’s new pixie haircut hit the web Thursday and millions of fans seemed to have strong opinions. Most loved it, but a few didn’t. Why all the fuss? The actress, 20, had been required to keep essentially the same long, blonde hairstyle for ten years while she played Harry Potter’s bookish pal, Hermione Granger, in the $5.4 billion-grossing Potter franchise. But Watson, who’s about to enter her second year at Brown University, finished shooting the final two films earlier this summer. (Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1, will be released this Nov. 19. Part 2 will be released next summer, on July 15).
When filming ended, Watson’s hair was finally her own. She could have cut her hair immediately, but she decided to wait a bit. “It didn’t feel right then; I needed a break,” she tells EW.com exclusively. During the cut, designed by New York stylist Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon, Watson never had a moment of panic or remorse. “It was weird. My hairdresser was like, ‘When are you going to freak out?’ Most people cry or go into shock,’” she says. “But I was very calm. I knew it was the right thing.” It helped, she said, that she didn’t tell anyone she was getting the drastic ‘do. “I went to the salon alone and I left alone,” she says. “I knew everyone was going to have an opinion, and I couldn’t deal with it. I have to get myself into a good place to deal with people saying things like, ‘It’s terrible! She looks like a boy!’” Says the actress, laughing, “My dad already said that to me, actually. He said, ‘You’re not Audrey Hepburn yet, darling.’”
Ouch. Thanks, Dad? “He’s like that. I think the best I’ve ever had out of him was before a premiere when he said I ‘scrub up alright.’ When people ask me how I keep myself grounded, there’s the answer.” [Source]
Emma will be featured on the cover of the Entertainment weekly issue that hits newsstands August 13th. The article feature will include what EW calls "exclusive photos" of Emma's new haircut, as well as an interview in which Emma explains how liberated she feels to be able to chop all her hair off!
She’s not Hermione anymore. Emma Watson — the 20-year-old actress who has portrayed Harry Potter’s studious BFF, Hermione Granger, in six films over the past decade — has shorn off her character’s long tresses in favor of a short pixie haircut. “Oh my God, it was the most liberating thing!” she tells EW.com. “The stylist just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out. It felt amazing. I love it.” The chic, gamine cut, created by New York stylist Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon and seen in this exclusive Polaroid from EW’s upcoming Fall Movie Preview issue, might not seem like a huge deal to most 20-year-olds. But Watson has had to sport essentially the same hairstyle for ten years while she played Hermione. “I missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through,” she says. “I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, ‘Right. This is it.’” Watson, who’s about to enter her sophomore year at Brown University, finished shooting the final two Potter movies this summer — Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will be released Nov. 19, 2010, and Part 2 next summer, on July 15.
