EXCLUSIVE! Ooh La La – Emma Watson Trades In Magic For A Moulin-Rouge Inspired 20th Birthday Fête!
Now that Emma’s a serious college student, she couldn’t actually celebrate her b-day in Paris – so she went for the second best option by bringing Paris to her!
Emma Watson took some time out from hitting the books to throw herself one heck of a birthday bash April 14. The Harry Potter starlet rang in her 20’s with a Moulin Rouge-inspired party in Providence, RI. Ooh la la!
“Emma wanted the party to be low-key,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com of the Brown University freshman. “She kept it small with just a bunch of her friends from Brown.”
It isn’t surprising that the fashionable actress (and designer!) – whose actual birthday is today, April 15, would choose Moulin Rouge as her party theme, considering she’s mentioned it twice before!
“I would love to be in a musical. I want to sing. I want to do a crazy Baz Luhrmann Moulin Rouge sort of thing,” she told MTV News in 2008. Previously, back in 2006, she told ElleGirl that if she could listen to one song for the rest of her life, it would be “Roxanne” from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
Happy birthday, Hermione….er, we mean Emma! [Source]
Why did you choose Brown University over a British one? "I was seriously torn as to whether to stay in the UK or go to the States as let’s face it the UK has some of the best universities in the world. But, ultimately, I loved the course at Brown and really liked the idea of experiencing a different country and culture – and I must say I’ve never been happier, I absolutely love Brown."
Is it true you once dated Johnny Borrell from Razorlight? "Oh my God, that is so not true! I only met him once and we shared a taxi from an event to the after party, but never let truth get in the way of a good story and all that."
Is it true you've never drunk tea or coffee? "Yes, never have. I don’t like the taste and I don’t really like what caffeine does to your body… now hot chocolate that’s another matter. Lol"
What's happening with Napoleon and Betsy? "It's a project I love and am attached to, but I don’t know if or when it will happen. I hope it does. I’m afraid that’s the nature of filmmaking. You learn to not become too emotionally involved as scripts come and go and many of them never get off the ground."
What is your relationship with Chanel? "Another media myth I’m afraid. I love Chanel and have a fantastic relationship with Karl Lagerfeld, but there has never been any discussion as to me becoming the face of Chanel."

New documents on the Ancestry.co.uk website reveal the French roots of many well-known UK celebrities such as Davina McCall and Emma Watson.
Ancestry.co.uk has launched a collection of documents covering over 200 years of Parisian history in the Paris, France & Vicinity Vitals, 1700-1907.
The new collection features 16.3 million records of births, marriages and deaths from the dawn of the 18th Century.
Ancestry said that though 45 per cent of Brits consider Parisians to be arrogant, aloof and unhelpful, French ancestry is common in the UK, with one in 20 of us having roots on the other side of the English channel.
Harry Potter star and Burberry model Emma Watson is just one of the UK celebs revealed to have French roots by documents in the new collection.
Documents relating to the families of Davina McCall, Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding and documentary-maker Louis Theroux are also in the collection.
"Paris is an enchanting city with a rich history that Brits have been drawn to for centuries, so for many it will be a thrill to discover that they may have close ancestral ties to France," Ancestry.co.uk's international content director Dan Jones said.
"Making these Parisian records available will help many British people out there with French heritage trace their continental roots," Jones continued.
Ancestry.co.uk costs £10.95 per month to access or £83.40 for a year's membership. [Source]
