Inspired to make a difference

June 18, 2010 @ 8:09am · 0 comments
People Tree has posted a really great article in their online magazine about how Emma has inspired one young person to make a difference by supporting and spreading the word about Fairtrade clothing.
Inspired to make a difference

When People Tree collaborated with Emma Watson on their new youth range the aim was clear; to bring Fair Trade and sustainable fashion to a new audience. The youth of today are the hope for the future and by beginning a conversation with them we have a chance to shape a better future.

People Tree, ‘Love from Emma’ has generated conversation and debate and begun to educate people who had never even considered the impact clothing can have on people and the planet.

Daniel Schoeppl is one of the next generation. Eighteen years old from Austria, Daniel was intrigued by the concept of Fair Trade fashion and since entering People Tree’s ‘Ask Emma’ competition has continued to explore the concept further. We caught up with Daniel to find out why he took to the collection so much.

Had you heard of or ever worn Fair Trade fashion before you had heard about the Emma Watson and People Tree collaboration?
Yes, in Austria we’ve got an organisation/shop called “WeltLaden” that sells fair trade products from chocolate to handicrafts and recently fair trade clothing mostly from South America and India. But it was when I saw the collaboration on Emma’s official website that I wanted to know more about People Tree.

What are your favourite pieces from the collection?
I would say I like all the items Emma designed because they look both good and casual. My mum especially likes the oxford cricket jumper and as we are all England fans we like all the items which are typically English. [Read full article]

Emma Watson throws Harry Potter farewell dinner

Emma Watson Throws Harry Potter Farewell Dinner

Unlike her prim alter ego, Emma Watson knows how to throw a party.

The actress, 20, who plays straight-laced Hermione Granger in the blockbuster Harry Potter franchise, hosted a dinner at her home in England recently as filming on the series drew to a close.

"The last week of filming Emma had a dinner at her place, and we spoke about the best moments of filming, our secret crushes on set – all kinds of random questions," says James Phelps, who plays mischievous Fred Weasley in the movies. "But all the answers to these questions will stay in that room!" [Source]

Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens on Friday

June 15, 2010 @ 7:11pm · 0 comments
[Edit] It has been confirmed by Emma's publicist that she will not be attending the opening in Orlando. [/Edit]

The grand opening is fast approaching and the general consensus seems to be that Emma will not be attending. Always the optimist, I will keep an eye out in case she does show up!

For those wishing to see the opening but who don't live in Florida, there is a website here that will be streaming video footage of the grand opening in real time, as far as I can tell. There is also meant to be an event tomorrow, Wednesday the 16th, between 9:30 and 10:00pm. Be sure to check the website for any possible changes, as it's the only official source we've got to go on so far!

HP filming comes to an end

June 12, 2010 @ 8:41pm · 0 comments
It has been confirmed that today marks the end of Deathly Hallows filming, and the last of the decade-long filming of the Harry Potter films.
The end of an Era - today is officially the last day of principal photography on 'Harry Potter' - ever. I feel honoured to be here as the director shouts cut for the very last time. Farewell Harry & Hogwarts, it's been magic! x ...and goodbye Griphook! - Warwick Davis, via Twitter [Source]
In light of what Emma has expressed as a feeling of sadness that the series is coming to an end, I wanted to express thanks to Emma and the HP crew for making it such an incredible series, and also to wish Emma all the best in her future endeavours! I think I speak for a great many of us when I say that she and the series hold a special place in our hearts.

"How do you wear yours?" winner posted by People Tree!

June 11, 2010 @ 7:21pm · 0 comments
People Tree's "How do you wear yours?" competition has ended and as a result, the winner has been posted on their website. The competition asked fans to show how they wear their "Love from Emma" clothing, and Hannah (the winner) and several fans have been featured!
Our Friday Fun competition ‘How do you wear yours?’ was great success. We had many great styling tips for the Love from Emma range just in time for the festival season. The lucky winner is Hannah from Brightlingsea in Essex, England who said her style tip was layering. She suggested teaming the salmon rydal gathered dress with a floral skirt to give a "real twist to your outfit."

We loved Hannah’s original styling. "The greatest fashion advice is to love what you are wearing and be confident, showing your personality." £250 People Tree vouchers and a signed Emma Watson tote bag is on its way to her now! She told us "I absolutely love what People Tree and Emma are doing and it’s incredible that I can play a part in making a difference." [Read more]
